Indoor training options for those rainy days

Being able to train your dog indoors can be so helpful for many reasons: the weather, injuries and illnesses (you and the dog!), dark evenings, and more. This blog gives you a few ideas on how to keep your dogs brain active on those indoor days.

Static heel position

If you want your dog to walk without pulling on the lead, then you need to teach them where the heel position is.

Middle / Centre

Having the ability to put your dog between your legs can be so beneficial, particularly on narrow paths where bikes, horses, or other dogs need to pass by. It can also be a fun, alternative way to recall your dog.

Recall through temptation alley

If you have a corridor in your home or an open space in your living room or kitchen, you can do this exercise. You don't need a lot of space to practice recall.

Whether these exercises are new to you or you've done them many times before, there is always use in practicing and perfecting these skills, and what better time than when you're stuck inside in winter weather!
