About the event

Hunt, Turn, Stop Training Day

This training day focuses on enhancing the dogs hunting pattern. We will work on our stop whistle and our turn whistle, making sure the dog understands the command and listens to it. We will work on the hunt pattern in isolation, talk about using the ground and wind, and how this can be advanced to include retrieves. We will then hunt in pairs, getting the dog used to test scenarios and working alongside each other. We will finish the day with a mock beating line.

The day is NOVICE level.

To participate in this day your dog must:

  • Have reliable recall

  • Have good general obedience

  • Have been introduced to the stop whistle

  • Have been introduced to the turn whistle

  • Have an interest in retrieving.

All exercises can be made easier and harder as needed. If you're unsure on the level please ask.

The day includes ~2.5 hours of training, followed by a lunch break, then a further ~2.5 hours of training.

Please bring your own lunch and camp chair.

One handler per dog. No spectators please. Dog must not be aggressive / reactive / injured / ill / in season.
